How it all started...
EquiTrace was developed to provide the best digital technology for those working in the horse industry. EquiTrace co-founders Dr Kevin and Jennifer Corley have over 50 years of experience working as specialist veterinarians and them working all over the world. All British Equine Veterinary Association members and Equine Veterinarians Australia use their apps.
Dr. Kevin Corley and Jennifer Corley worked as specialist veterinarians in the USA, Australia, UK and Ireland. It was clear to our founders that horse people across continents and disciplines love their animals and would do anything to keep them healthy. Yet, at every level, horse health is being impacted by a lack of data.
75% of farms in the USA and Ireland are still using white boards or pen and paper to give treatment instructions and keep track of medication.
Simple human errors can cause costly, severe mistakes, impacting individual horses, ruining reputations, and even bringing our sports into disrepute. Everyone, from the grooms to the trainers to the needed veterinarians, has a fast, accurate, secure way to check and update health records on the horse's side. And so, EquiTrace was created to solve all of these issues.
Why is EquiTrace different? We look at problems from every perspective. The person on the ground checking horses, the trainer, the veterinarian and also for regulatory bodies. The combination of an App, a microchip and a scanner makes it simple to ensure the correct horse has the proper record and is given the treatment needed.
In recent studies, 51% of medication referrals in competition were due to too short a withdrawal time, and a further 10% were due to the wrong horse been given the wrong medication.
EquiTrace was created to solve these problems we were seeing across the whole equine industry. Our medication module ensures that withdrawal times are flagged for any medication given to a horse competing under all significant governing bodies' rules.
Data can be entered as treatments are given, and data is available where needed: right at the side of the horse. Trainers, owners and veterinarians can look at their phones and see immediately what is happening with every horse up to the minute. This technology has years of veterinary knowledge and experience to keep everyone updated and on track with their horses.
EquiTrace unleashes the power of the microchip, converting any standard chip into a number and a way to access and update a secure passport and health record that cannot be lost and is always available at the side of the horse. Data is recorded in real-time and is verifiable and accurate.
This is state-of-the-art software designed by leading veterinarians and tested by leading trainers and breeders globally. Giving people on-the-ground software that is simple, fast, and that they enjoy using EquiTrace has created the pathway to lead the industry into the digital age.
