On September 8, 2021 – Merck Animal Health, known as MSD Animal Health outside the United Stated and Canada, a division of Merck & Co., Inc., Kenilworth, N.J., USA (NYSE:MRK) announced its strategic U.S. partnership with Irish-based technology company EquiTrace Ltd., creators of the EquiTrace™ platform. Through the EquiTrace smartphone app, the entire horse care team can securely update and access each horse’s GPS location and medical record in one convenient location. The app also works in conjunction with Merck Animal Health’s Bio-Thermo® microchips, allowing horse care professionals to instantly read, graph and monitor a horse’s temperature.

Race to Relate

Racing to Relate

EquiTrace® are proud to be supporting Racing to Relate with the use of our software to provide traceability for all of the animals in their care and that they are responsible for. Each animal in the care of racing to relate is on their system.

Racing to Relate are also participating in a collaborative PhD research project with the University of Bristol, is the cornerstone of Racing To Relate’s long-term research aims and has inspired us to build an open knowledge-sharing platform through which they hope to optimise engagement, implementation and welfare outcomes for both horses and the people who work with them. EquiTrace are assisting through the data collection which provides the “why” and the evidence base behind the retraining practices chosen to incorporate in the pilot scheme and offers full transparent welfare information for each thoroughbred partaking in this program and allows for realistic progression options for each horse.
