Do I need a scanner?
EquiTrace can be used with or without a scanner.
When using EquiTrace without a scanner, horses are uploaded to your account and you can access each of them by searching quickly in the app. Manual temperature checks can be recorded. Commonly used for yards or barns that don’t have high turnover of horses.
When using EquiTrace with a scanner, you can scan horses automatically to sync to your account. When paired with a Bio-Thermo® microchip, the scanner will record the horses temperature automatically. Best suited for farms or studs that have large horse numbers. Scanners can be purchased directly from EquiTrace.
I want a Bio-Thermo® microchip, but my horse already has a normal microchip, can I “double chip”?
We don’t recommend adding a second chip as each horse has a unique identification number already assigned to their passport. Please check however with your governing body.
My horse has no microchip, how do I get one?
Merck Animal Health or MSD Animal Health have launched the Bio-Thermo® microchip in a number of countries. These are available from veterinarians and regulatory bodies who allocate microchips each year. Please contact your usual microchip source for your country to purchase a Bio-Thermo® microchip.
How does the subsciption work?
EquiTrace Stud has all the great features available to each user who is subscribed.
Users choose their subscription based on the amount of horses that are on the farm or stud. Farms increase in amounts up to 250 horses but we can tailor plans to farms greater than 250 horses.
How do I download EquiTrace?
Once you have chosen your subscription, our customer success team can get you onboarded and help you and you team set up your farm so it is ready to use.
EquiTrace is available from the app store. And also is available in Spanish on Android.
